Set up Google Analytics for published documents

Last updated on Jun 2, 2026

Learn how to integrate Google Analytics with published Adobe InDesign documents.

Set up a free Analytics account at analytics.google.com and add your Measurement ID while publishing the InDesign document. Google Analytics integration does not affect your InDesign files. If analytics cannot be captured across domains, set up cross-domain measurement in Admin to configure your Measurement ID.

When you embed a password-protected document with multiple pages, you'll need to re-enter the password each time you switch pages using the drop-down menu.

Add Google Analytics tracking to your document

Open your InDesign document and select File > Publish Online.

Select the Analytics tab and enter the Measurement ID generated in Google Analytics to add it to the published document. Adobe does not receive any access or data from your Google Analytics account.

Select Analytics, then add the Measurement ID to track the document views and other metrics in Google Analytics.

Select Enable cookie banner on my document to display a consent notice to visitors.

Enter the text you want to display based on your cookie notice requirements in the Cookie Banner text field. The banner allows users to accept or reject analytics collection for the document.

Select Publish or Close to minimize the dialog box and continue working on other InDesign documents.

Open Google Analytics to view the insights for your published documents.

Description

Measurement ID

Enter a Google Analytics Measurement ID to track document views and interactions. Generate this ID in your Google Analytics account. Adobe does not receive any data from your Google Analytics account.

Enable cookie banner on my document

When enabled, displays a cookie consent notice on the published document. Customize the banner text to meet your regional data protection requirements.

Note
  • Analytics are collected only if the visitor provides consent. Google Tag Manager displays analytics from users who accept the notice in the cookie banner. The cookie banner appears only on the published document and does not reappear for one year after it's cleared.
  • Cookie notice requirements vary by region, so include the banner as needed in line with your data protection obligations.
