Import files from Creative Cloud libraries

Last updated on Jun 2, 2026

Learn how to use the CC Libraries panel in Adobe InDesign to access and place graphics, colors, and styles from your libraries.

Creative Cloud Libraries store shared assets, such as colors, text styles, and graphics for use across InDesign and other Adobe apps. You can import these assets into a document from Window > CC Libraries, and place them as linked or embedded files, preserving their formatting.

Before you begin

Make sure you have at least one Creative Cloud Library with assets and an active Adobe Creative Cloud account.

Import graphics from CC Libraries

Select Window > CC Libraries.

Select your library from the dropdown menu in the CC Libraries panel.

In the Graphics category, locate the asset you want to place.

To place the graphic as a linked asset, drag it onto your document.

To embed the graphics, hold Alt (Windows) or Option (macOS) while dragging it.

Import colors and color themes

Select Window > CC Libraries and select your library.

Locate a color or color theme in the Colors or Color Themes category.

Right-click the asset and select Add to swatches for individual colors or Add theme to swatches for color themes.

Import paragraph and character styles

Select Window > CC Libraries.

In the CC Libraries panel, locate the style in the Paragraph Styles or Character Styles category.

Select one or more styles you want to import.

Right-click the selected styles and select Add to Paragraph Styles or Add to Character Styles.

Tip
  • Linked graphics appear in the Links panel with an icon indicating their link status. To relocate a linked graphic in your CC Libraries, right-click the graphic in the Links panel and select Reveal in CC Libraries.
  • Use File > Place from CC Libraries for quick access to graphics-only assets or open the full CC Libraries panel to work with all asset types.
