Learn how to use the Glyphs panel to access special characters, symbols, and alternate letterforms in Adobe InDesign.

The Glyphs panel provides access to every character available in a font, letting you insert characters not available on your keyboard. It supports OpenType, Type 1, and TrueType fonts, with OpenType fonts offering the most glyph options.

Select Type > Glyphs.

Select the Type tool, then place the insertion point in a text frame.

Select a font from the font family menu at the lower-left of the panel to view all characters available in that font.

Use the Zoom Out   icon and the Zoom In   icon in the panel to adjust glyph display size for easier viewing.

Resize the panel to view more glyphs by dragging the lower-right corner.
