Find and replace text

Learn how to find and replace text and text with formatting in Adobe InDesign documents.

Open the InDesign document.

Select Edit > Find/Change.

In the Text tab, enter the text to find in the Find what field. To find and replace specific format attributes, keep the Find what and Change to fields blank.

Select the Specify attributes to find icon in the Find Format section.

In the Find Format Settings dialog box, select a type of formatting, specify the format attributes, then select OK.

Select the Specify attributes to change  icon in the Change Format section.

In the Change Format Settings dialog box, select a type of formatting, specify the format attributes, and then select OK.

Select Find Next, then choose Select ChangeChange All, or Change/Find to replace the found text.

Note

To list, find, and replace fonts in your document, select Type > Find/Replace Font.
