Add movie and sound files to InDesign documents to include video and audio in Interactive PDFs. These media elements enhance digital viewing experiences. Media files are placed as linked objects within frames and can be configured for playback using the Media panel.

Place a movie or sound file from a disk

Select File > Place, then locate and double-click the MP4, MOV, or MP3 file you want to import.

Place the media on the page at its original size, or drag to define a custom frame size.

Select Window > Interactive > Media.

In the Media panel, set the Options.

Select File > Export.

Choose Adobe PDF (Interactive) from the Save as type (Windows) or Format (macOS) drop-down menu.

Place a video from a URL

Create a graphic frame using the Rectangle Frame tool or select an existing video object to replace.

Select Window > Interactive > Media.

Select the Place a video or audio file icon at the lower-right of the panel, then select Place Video from URL.

Enter a complete URL (including http:// or https://) pointing to an H.264-encoded MP4 or MOV file, then select OK.

Select File > Export.

Choose Adobe PDF (Interactive) from the Save as type (Windows) or Format (macOS) drop-down menu.
