View page transitions in PDFs

Last updated on Jun 2, 2026

Learn how to view page transitions in Adobe InDesign Interactive PDFs using Full Screen Mode in PDF viewers.

Page transitions add visual effects when navigating between pages in Interactive PDFs exported from InDesign. To view these effects, the PDF must be opened in Full Screen Mode in a supported PDF viewer. Transitions appear only in Interactive PDFs and are not supported in Print PDFs. Proper viewing ensures that transition effects display as intended.

Include page transitions during export

Select File > Export.

Choose Adobe PDF (Interactive) from the Save as type (Windows) or Format (macOS) drop-down menu.

In the Export to Interactive PDF dialog box, locate Page Transitions drop-down menu.

Select From Document to use transitions applied in the Page Transitions panel.

Select OK to export the PDF with transitions included.

Enable Full Screen Mode to view transitions

Open your exported PDF in Adobe Acrobat or Reader.

Press Ctrl + L (Windows) or Command + L (macOS) to enter Full Screen Mode.

Navigate between pages using arrow keys, the spacebar, or the mouse selections to see the transition effects.

Press Esc to exit Full Screen Mode and return to normal viewing.
