Learn how to add rounded or decorative corner effects to rectangular frames and paths in Adobe InDesign.

Corner effects let you modify the appearance of path corners, from simple rounded edges to decorative shapes. These effects can be applied to frames and paths to enhance visual styling.

Apply corner effects using Corner Options

Select the frame or path you want to modify using the Selection tool.

Select Object > Corner Options.

Select the Make all settings the same icon to apply the same effect to all corners or deselect it to customize individual corners.

Select an effect style, Fancy, Bevel, Inset, Inverse Rounded, or Rounded, from the corner effect dropdown menus.

Set a size value to control how far the effect extends from each corner point.

Select Preview to view changes, then select OK.

Apply corner effects using Live Corners

With Live Corners, you can apply corner effects to rectangular frames by clicking the yellow box that appears on the frame and dragging. In addition, you can apply a different corner effect and a different corner radius to each corner.

Select a rectangular frame with the Selection tool.

Select the small yellow box that appears near the frame's corner. Four yellow diamonds appear on the selected frame, indicating Live Corners mode.

If the yellow box does not appear on the selected frame, select View > Extras > Show Live Corners.

To adjust the radii of all four corners together, drag one of the diamonds toward the center of the frame.

To adjust a single corner, hold Shift while dragging a diamond.

To cycle through the various effects, Alt-click (Windows) or Option-click (macOS) a yellow diamond.

To stop editing corners, select anywhere outside the selected frame.

To remove corner effects, select Object > Corner Options, and then select None from the corner effect dropdown menus.
