Manage style packs

Learn how to edit, duplicate, delete, and reuse style packs within a document or across multiple documents in Adobe InDesign.

Use the Paragraph Styles panel to edit, duplicate, or delete a style pack from a specific document. Changes made in the Paragraph Styles panel are only visible in the same document.

Edit a style pack

Use this feature to change the specific styles in a Style Pack, such as Heading, Subheading, Paragraph, and more.

Select Window > Styles > Paragraph Styles.

Right-click the Style Pack you want to edit, then select Edit <"Style Pack name">.

Update the settings according to your requirements.

Select OK.

Right-click the edited Style Pack, then select the Apply <"Style Pack name"> in the Paragraph Styles panel to apply the edited pack to your text.

Duplicate or delete a style pack

Select Window > Styles > Paragraph Styles.

Right-click a Style Pack, select Duplicate Style, then select OK to create its copy.

Right-click a Style Pack, select Delete Style, then select OK to delete it.

Manage Style Packs across InDesign

You can use your Style Pack across InDesign documents or reuse a Style Pack from a document shared by other stakeholders.

Select Window > Styles > Paragraph Styles.

Right-click the Style Pack you want to save, then select Save as Custom Style Pack.

Select the View Style Packs icon in the Paragraph Styles panel to open the Style Packs panel.

Select the Custom tab to view your saved Style Pack.

Tip

If you've saved a Style Pack as a Custom Style Pack and you've deleted it from the Paragraph Styles panel, you can­ still view and use it from the Custom tab of the Style Packs panel.
