Learn how to locate and swap characters sharing the same Unicode value in Adobe InDesign.

InDesign allows you to replace individual glyphs with the same Unicode values, such as ligatures, alternates, or ornaments. This feature helps standardize glyph usage across a document by swapping one character variation for another within the same font.

Select Edit > Find/Change.

Select the Glyph tab.

InDesign workspace with the Find/Change dialog box open and the Glyph tab highlighted.
Use the Glyph tab in the Find/Change dialog box to locate and replace glyphs.

Select the arrow icon next to the Find Glyph field to open the glyph selection panel.

Locate and double-click the character you want. The panel displays all glyphs from your currently active font, organized by category.

Select the button beside the Change Glyph field, then double-click the replacement glyph you want to use.

Select Find Next to locate the first instance of the glyph in your document.

Select Change to replace the current instance, Change All to replace all instances at once, or Change/Find to replace the current instance and immediately locate the next one.
