Select any shape and then select Generate Effect from the Contextual task bar. You can also use the Text to Image panel drop-down to switch to Generative Expand .

- Before you proceed, ensure you're connected to the internet, as Generate Effect requires cloud processing.
- Currently, Generate Effect is only available in the InDesign (Beta) versions of English International and English North America.

Type the effect you want to generate to fill the selected shape.
You can also select the Shape Description icon to describe the selected shape. If you don't add a shape description, it will automatically try to predict the shape.
Tip:You can select the Sample Effects icon for inspiration.

Select Generate .

Select the left or right arrows to view and select different variations of your prompt.
Select Window > Text to Image to view all the past variations.
Tip:All variations are downloaded to your computer in the following location:
- Windows: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\InDesign GenAI Assets
- macOS: /Users/username/Documents/InDesign GenAI Assets

You can also select the ellipsis icon to Show Text to Image Panel , View GenAI Guidelines , Good Result , Bad Result , Report variation , Hide Context Bar , or Pin Context Bar .
Note:Once you select Hide Context Bar , the Contextual Task Bar will not open by default when you create or select an image frame. Select Window > Contextual Task Bar to view it again.
