Learn how to restore preferences to troubleshoot common issues or if you have accidentally changed them.

Caution:

Be careful while restoring some of your customized preferences, as they might reinstall the troubled settings back to Premiere Pro.

To restore your customized preferences like keyboard shortcuts, workspaces, and style settings, navigate to the preferences folder while keeping Premiere Pro closed.

Do the following to restore your preferences based on the method you used while resetting preferences:

  1. If you had reset your preferences through Creative Cloud Diagnostics (beta), you’d see a backup folder with the file name Profile-<name>_bkp_<lastest time stamp>.
  • Select the .kys file in the macOS or Windows folder to revive your keyboard shortcuts.
  • For general preferences, select Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs file.
  • Select the Layouts folder for workspaces and replace them in the newly created preferences folder.
  1. If you had renamed the folder, restore it with the default name (Profile-<name>).
  2. If you moved the folder to another location, return it to its original location.

Result

The next time Premiere Pro is launched, the preferences will be restored.
