Automatically synchronize out-of-sync clips

Last updated on Dec 14, 2023

Learn how to automatically synchronize clips moved out-of-sync in the Timeline panel.

Before you start

Ensure that the clips are linked to use the methods to automatically synchronize the out-of-sync clips.

  1. Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (macOS) the number that appears at the In point in the Timeline panel of the out-of-sync video or audio clip. The number displayed in the red indicates the amount of time the clip is out-of-sync with its accompanying video or audio clip.
  2. Use the Move into Sync option to shift the selected video or audio part of the clip in time to restore sync. This option moves the clip without regard to adjacent clips and overwrites any clips to regain sync.
The Timeline panel had out-of-sync video and audio clips, and the context menu shows the option to Move into Sync and Slip into Sync.
Use the Move into Sync or Slip into Sync options to restore sync in the Timeline panel.

  1. Use Slip into Sync to perform a slip edit to restore sync without moving the clip’s position in time.

Result

The audio and video clips are synchronized.
