Learn how to use a mono audio clip as a stereo clip and apply a mono clip to a pair of left and right stereo channels.

Using a mono audio clip as a stereo clip may be useful. Using the Modify Clip dialog, you can apply a mono clip to a pair of left and right stereo channels.

  1. Select a mono clip in the Project panel.
  2. Select Clip in the menu bar, and then select Modify > Audio Channels.
  3. Select Stereo from the Clip Channel Format dropdown menu in the Modify Clip dialog.
Select Stereo for Clip Channel Format to convert a mono clip to a stereo one.

  1. Select OK.

Result

The selected mono clip is converted to a stereo clip.

Note:

You can apply the Modify Clip command to a mono clip only in the Project panel before the clip appears in the Timeline panel. When used in a mono audio track, you cannot convert a clip instance to stereo.

If you have a stereo clip with sound recorded in only one channel, or if it has sound in one channel that you want to replace with the sound from another channel, you can use source clip channel mapping, Fill Left audio filter, or Fill Right audio filter options.
