Set a default transition

You can easily set a transition as the default if you use a transition frequently.
Cross Dissolve and Constant Power Crossfade are the default video and audio transitions.
Tip:
If you want to apply the default transition to most or all the clips in a sequence, consider using Automate to Sequence. Read more about how you can Add clips to a sequence automatically.
Set a default transition
- Select Window > Effects and expand the Video Transitions or Audio Transitions bin.
- Select the transition that you want to make the default.
- Right-click the transition.
- From the context menu, select Set Selected as Default Transition.
Set the duration of the default transition
- Choose Edit > Preferences > Timeline (Windows), or Premiere Pro > Preferences > Timeline (macOS).
- Adjust the Video Transition Default Duration and Audio Transition Default Duration fields as per your requirements.
- Select OK.
Result
You can now quickly apply the transition you have set as the default transition.
