Learn how to create Source Graphics so that any changes you make to it, the changes reflect in all instances of that graphic in your timeline.

Before you begin

Create a project and add text and graphics to your project.

You can use the Upgrade to Source Graphic option to create a Source Clip item in your Project panel from a graphic clip in your sequence.

Any new graphics made from a Source Graphic, including the one you upgraded from, are always exact duplicates of each other. This includes the source text string. Any changes made to the text, style, or contents in an instance of a Source Graphic get reflected in all other instances of that Source Graphic.

Tip:

If you have captions and want to make advanced edits to your captions (such as adding animations), you can upgrade your captions to source graphics and you can then edit them like any other graphic.

  1. Select the Graphic in the Timeline panel.
  2. Select Graphics and Titles > Upgrade to Source Graphic.
  3. Edit it in the Essential Graphics panel and use it in your sequence like any other Source Graphic clip.

Result

Any changes made to it will be applied to all the instances where this Source Graphic is used.
