Learn how to remove flicker from images, often seen as thin lines or sharp edges.

Thin lines and sharp edges in images sometimes flicker when shown on interlaced displays, such as Anti-flicker Filter control in Effect Controls > Motion can reduce or eliminate this flicker.

Tip:

As you increase its strength, more flicker is eliminated, but the image becomes softer. Set it relatively high for images with many sharp edges and high contrast.

  1. Select a clip in the Timeline panel, and then select the Effect Controls tab.
  2. Open the Motion controls.
  3. Select Anti-flicker Filter. Press the spacebar to preview the clip. Increase the filter strength if the flicker is still visible or decrease it if the image is too soft.

Note:

As you increase the strength, more flicker is eliminated, but the image becomes softer. Set it relatively high for images with many sharp edges and high contrast.

You can change the intensity of the Anti-flicker Filter over the duration of a clip by setting Anti-flicker Filter keyframes at different values.

Result

The flicker from the images is eliminated by increasing the strength of the Anti-flicker Filter.
