Learn how to open, close, and scroll panels and resize panel groups in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Open, close, and move panels

When you close a panel group in the application window, the other groups resize to use the newly available space. When you close a floating window, the panels within it will also close.

  • Open: Select Window and then select the panel name.
  • Close: Select Ctrl+W (Windows) or Cmd+W (macOS) or select the Close button.
  • View all the panels in a panel group: Drag the horizontal scroll bar to view all the panel tabs in a narrow panel group.
  • Bring a panel to the front of a panel group:
    • Select the panel tab you want in front.
    • Hover the cursor over the tab area and scroll to bring each panel to the front, one after another.
    • Drag tabs horizontally to change their order.

Resize panel groups

When you position the pointer over dividers between panel groups, resize icons appear. When you drag these icons, all groups that share the divider are resized. For example, suppose that your workspace contains three-panel groups stacked vertically. If you drag the divider between the bottom two groups, they are resized, but the topmost group doesn’t change.

  • Place your cursor between two-panel groups and drag the double arrow pointer to resize horizontally or vertically.
  • Place your cursor at the intersection between three or more panel groups and drag the four-way arrow to resize horizontally or vertically.
Note:

To increase the available screen space, use multiple monitors. You can display the video or Premiere Pro interface on a second monitor. Monitor configurations are stored in the workspace.

Result

You can view the open or moved panels and the resized panel groups in the workspace.
