Learn how to use the timecode from an audio primary clip when you create a merged clip.

When merging clips, you can use the timecode from the primary audio clip. This means you can decide to choose to skip the source camera audio when creating a merged clip and rather use another audio clip all together.

Before you begin

Make sure that you have identified a primary or a main clip that you want to use to merge the clip.

  1. Select the video clip and the audio clip that contains the timecode.
  2. Select Clip > Merge Clips.

Select the primary audio clip to create a merge clip from the Use Audio Timecode From Clip dropdown menu.

  1. In the Merge Clips dialog, do one of the following:
  2. To use the timecode from an audio primary clip to create a merged clip, select the Use Audio Timecode From Clip checkbox and select the audio track you want to synchronize the video.
  3. To delete source camera audio from a clip, select the Remove Audio from AV Clip checkbox.
  4. Select OK.

Result

Premiere Pro will use the timecode from the primary audio clip specified to sync the audio and video in the merged clip.
