You can adjust track volume using keyframes to manipulate the volume of a clip.

Before you begin

Create a project, import media, and create a sequence. Make sure you have audio clips arranged on the timeline.

  1. Double-click on the audio track in the timeline to expand it.
  2. In the audio track header, click the Show Keyframes icon , and choose one of the following options from the menu:

  • Clip KeyframesYou can animate audio effects for a clip, including Volume Level. These keyframes only apply to the selected clip.
  • Track KeyframesYou can animate audio track effects like Volume and Mute. These keyframes apply to the entire track.
  • Track PannerYou can change a track’s volume level. For more information, see Panning and balancing.
  1. Play the clip and create keyframes using Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (macOS)
  1. Use the Selection   icon to move the volume level rubber band up (increase volume) or down (decrease volume).

Result

Play back the clip to see the changes in the volume levels.
