About transitions

A transition is an effect added between media pieces to create an animated link between them.
Premiere Pro provides various transitions you can apply to a sequence ranging from a subtle crossfade to a stylized effect.
Types of transitions
Premiere Pro provides transitions for audio clips, video clips, as well as VR transitions. Transitions can be single-sided (applied on only one edge of a clip), or double-sided (both edges of a clip).
How do transitions work?
By default, placing one clip next to another in a Timeline panel results in a cut, where the first frame of the next clip follows the last frame of previous clip. Transitions are usually placed on a cut line between shots. You can also apply a transition only to the beginning or end of a clip.
