Learn to create a title in Premiere Pro for your video projects.

Before you begin

To add titles, you need to have a sequence open on the timeline in Premiere Pro. Move the playhead to the frame where you want to add the title.

Add text to your videos.

  1. Select the Type tool from the toolbar.

A text box is created on the Program Monitor where you can type your text.

  1. Type your title in the Program Monitor.

  1. Right-click the Title in the Program Monitor and select Edit Properties from the context menu to open the Essential Graphics panel to customize your title with fonts, colors, and styling options. Alternatively, you can double-click the track item on the timeline.

You can edit title properties using the options in the Essential Graphics panel.

  1. (Optional) Use the Selection tool to move or resize text and shape layers directly in the Program Monitor.
  2. (Optional) Drag to extend or shorten the Title item on the Timeline (the default duration is 5 seconds).
  3. (Optional) Select Shape tools to add graphical elements.
  4. (Optional) Copy and paste your title onto other parts of the Timeline and edit the text in each instance.

Result

You now have a title on your Program Monitor. You can then proceed to create cool text effects by playing around with the appearance of your text. Try adding multiple strokeschanging stroke styles, or applying text gradients.
