Learn how to change your browser’s settings if the print extension doesn’t work.

Browser print extensions allow you to print web pages or documents directly from the browser. The browser extension may fail to print pages due to incorrect settings.

Incorrect Google Chrome settings

  1. In the web browser’s address bar, type the path chrome://settings/content/pdfDocuments

  2. Under Default behavior, select Open PDFs in Chrome.

The Chrome settings shows options to specify the browser's default behavior. The 'Open PDFs in Chrome' option is highlighted.
Selecting the 'Open PDFs in Chrome' option opens the PDF files in a new tab in Chrome.

  3. Reload your PDF and try printing it again.

Incorrect Microsoft Edge settings

  1. In the Edge browser’s address bar, type the path edge://settings/content/pdfDocuments

  2. Turn off the toggle for Always download PDF files setting.

The PDF documents page contains two settings - Always download PDF files and PDF view settings. Deselect the 'Always download PDF files' option.
When you turn off the 'Always download PDF files' setting, PDFs open in a new tab in Edge instead of being downloaded.

  3. Reload your PDF and try printing it again.
