  • Strikethrough selected text: Mark text for removal by drawing a line through it.
  • Underline selected text: Add emphasis or show text changes.
  • Insert text: Add new text.
  • Replace selected text: Propose replacements for existing text.
  • Add comments: Add feedback in a chat bubble.
  • Draw freehand: Use drawings to explain your feedback.
  1. On the Acrobat on the web homepage, select Documents.

  2. Choose the appropriate category from the left pane, then select the document you want to review.

  3. Select the text you’d like to mark up.

The selected text shows a Context menu with tools to copy, edit or format, highlight, strikethrough, or underline the selected text.
To markup content in a PDF, select the area you’d like to review and then choose the appropriate tool from the Context menu.

  4. Select a redlining tool from the Context menu that appears to mark up the document:

    • Highlight selected text
    • Underline selected text
    • Strikethrough selected text
  5. For additional options, select a tool from the Quick Actions toolbar:

    • Select Add comment > Replace selected text. Enter the suggested replacement text in the box that appears.
    • Select Draw freehand , then use the pen cursor to make drawings.
    • Select Add comment > Insert text. Enter the proposed new text in the box that appears.
Add comment tool on the Quick Actions toolbar is selected, and the 'Insert text' tool is highlighted.
Selecting Insert text displays a text box where you can add suggested text.

  6. To add comments, select Edit, delete, or reply to comments icon-dc-edit-reply-to-comments.svg in the right pane. In the Comments pane that appears, type your comment and select Post. Move the chat bubble to the desired location on the document.

The Context menu allows you to change the color of the markup using the color palette.

  8. To delete a markup, select it and then select Delete from the Context menu.
