Learn how Acrobat and Braintree handle and share transaction data to ensure payment auditability and data protection.

Secure data storage is crucial when handling personal information like payment details. Acrobat and Braintree share only the essential details to complete transactions and ensure payment audit in relation to an agreement.

Braintree records

Acrobat manages agreement documents, recipient records, and interactions.

Braintree does not access transaction content or the full list of recipients, only the payer's information.

When a user selects the Pay and Sign button, an I-frame opens to Braintree, passing the following four data objects:

  • Currency Type: Ensures the correct merchant account is used in Braintree.
  • Payment Field Value: Indicates the collection amount.
  • Payer's Email Address: Identifies the payer.
  • Participation Code: Links the payment record to the agreement record.

Acrobat records

Braintree manages payment records and does not share the payer's personal information with Acrobat.

Upon successful payment, only the Braintree transaction number is returned to Acrobat, which is recorded in the agreement's Activity section and Audit Report.
