Learn how to add, edit, modify, delete, and reply to comments.

The review PDFs feature in Acrobat on the web allows you to efficiently add and manage comments for streamlined collaboration.

Add comments

  1. On the Acrobat on the web homepage, select Documents.

  2. Choose the appropriate category from the left pane, then select the document where you want to add comments.

  3. Select the text that you want to highlight and add a comment to and then select Add comments  from the Context menu.

Selected text shows Context menu with tools to copy, edit, format, highlight, strikethrough, or underline the selected text.
To change the color of the text highlight, select it and then select the Color icon from the context menu. You can then pick any color from the color panel.

  4. To add a general comment without highlighting any text, select Add comments  from the Quick Actions toolbar, then place it on the desired location in the document to drop the comment.

  5. To insert text into your document:

    1. From the Quick Actions toolbar, select Add comments  > Insert text.
    2. Move the cursor to the desired position on the document and start typing.
Add comment tool on the Quick Actions toolbar is selected, and the 'Insert text' tool is highlighted.
To suggest text insertion anywhere on the document, you can use the ‘Insert text’ tool.

  6. In the Comments pane, type your comment and select Post.

    Note:

You can change the color of the text highlight by selecting it and then choosing the Color icon from the Context menu.

Manage comments

Note:

A contributor cannot edit, modify, or delete comments added by other collaborators. However, the PDF owner can delete the comments.

  1. Select Edit, delete, or reply to comments  from the right pane to open the Comments pane.

  2. Select the comment that you want to edit, delete, or reply to.

  3. To edit the comment, select More options  > Edit.

The selected comment in the Comments pane includes a three-dot icon, which contains the options to Edit or Delete it.
When you edit a comment, others can see that you changed. Deleting the comment permanently removes it from the document.

  4. To delete the comment, select More options  > Delete.

  5. To respond to a comment, select the comment, type your feedback in the Add a reply text box, and then select Post.

The comments that you add or update on the PDF file are automatically saved.
