Learn how to add, edit, modify, delete, and reply to comments.

The review PDFs feature in Acrobat on the web allows you to efficiently add and manage comments for streamlined collaboration.

Add comments and reactions

  1. On the Acrobat on the web homepage, select Documents.

  2. Choose the appropriate category from the left pane, then select the document where you want to add comments.

  3. Select the text that you want to highlight and add a comment to and then select from the Context menu.

Selected text shows Context menu with tools to copy, edit, format, highlight, strikethrough, or underline the selected text.
To change the color of the text highlight, select it and then select the Color icon from the context menu. You can then pick any color from the color panel.

  4. To add a general comment without highlighting any text, select from the Quick Actions toolbar, then place it on the desired location in the document to drop the comment.

  5. To insert text, select > Insert text from the Quick Actions toolbar. Then, move the cursor to the desired position on the document and start typing.

Add comment tool on the Quick Actions toolbar is selected, and the 'Insert text' tool is highlighted.
To suggest text insertion anywhere on the document, you can use the ‘Insert text’ tool.

  6. In the Comments pane, type your comment.

  7. To add a reaction with the comment, select Open emoji picker and then select a desired reaction emoji from the panel.

The comments panel displays comments with emoji reactions and reactions to comments.
The emoji reaction and your text is added as a comment.

  8. Select Post.

Manage comments

Note:

A contributor cannot edit, modify, or delete comments added by other collaborators. However, the PDF owner can delete the comments.

  1. Select Edit, delete, or reply to comments  from the right pane to open the Comments pane.

  2. Select the comment that you want to edit, delete, or reply to.

  3. To edit the comment, select > Edit.

The selected comment in the Comments pane includes a three-dot icon, which contains the options to Edit or Delete it.
When you edit a comment, others can see that you changed. Deleting the comment permanently removes it from the document.

  4. To delete the comment, select > Delete.

  5. To respond to a comment, select the comment, type your feedback in the Add a reply text box, and then select Post.

  6. To add a reaction to a comment, hover over the comment and select Add reactions and then select a reaction from the panel.

A document is open in review mode with a comments pane on the right. Add Reactions tool is highlighted.
Once you select a reaction from the emojis panel, it automatically gets added to the comment.

    Note:

You can easily remove a reaction that you added by selecting it.

The comments that you add or update on the PDF file are automatically saved.
