Acrobat for SharePoint and OneDrive overview
Learn about the features and benefits of Adobe Acrobat for SharePoint and OneDrive.
Adobe Acrobat for SharePoint and OneDrive offers a comprehensive suite of PDF services with built-in accessibility features like read-out-loud, keyboard tabbing, and high-contrast support. With these tools, you can:
- View PDFs: Use Adobe's advanced web-based previewer to open and view PDFs online.
- Edit PDFs: Modify text and insert or delete images directly in your PDFs.
- Create PDFs: Convert documents to PDF while preserving fonts, formatting, and layout, with options for password protection.
- Manage Pages: Rearrange, delete, rotate pages, or split a PDF into multiple documents.
- Merge Files: Combine Microsoft files and PDFs into one PDF, then reduce the file size for easier sharing or archiving.
- Convert PDFs: Convert PDFs into editable Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or RTF files, maintaining the original design.
- Annotate PDFs: Add sticky notes, highlights, and freehand drawings for taking notes.
- Ensure Accessibility: Support for screen readers, keyboard navigation, and High Contrast modes for users with visual impairments.
File name restrictions
Certain file names are not allowed:
- Special directory names: "." and ".."
- Specific extensions: CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM0-COM9, LPT0-LPT9
- File names ending with a space or period
- File names beginning with a period
- File names containing the '#' character
File name and path length limitations
Long file names or paths in OneDrive or SharePoint may cause errors with the Adobe cloud storage PDF Experience, displaying the message: "There's some problem while processing your files."
To resolve this, shorten the file name or path and try again.
This issue is related to Microsoft’s Graph API, and Adobe is working with Microsoft to address it.
Visibility in OneDrive and SharePoint
Adobe cloud storage PDF experience is only visible in the modern view of OneDrive and SharePoint. To switch from the classic view, select Exit Classic Experience.
Data handling and privacy
When using paid features like Organize Pages or Export PDF, transient copies of files are created. These copies exist for up to 24 hours and are then deleted. Neither Adobe nor Microsoft has access to these copies.
