How Premiere works with Audition for audio editing

Last updated on Apr 2, 2026

Understand how Premiere connects with Audition to allow you to send clips or sequences for detailed editing, mixing, and advanced audio refinement.

Adobe Audition allows you to use advanced post-production tools to create and edit audio. If Adobe Audition is installed, you can edit Premiere audio clips in Audition or edit Premiere sequences in Audition using the Edit in Adobe Audition command to send either an audio clip or a sequence.

Sending a clip to Audition renders its audio data, allowing you to perform detailed edits in the Wave Editor.

Sending a sequence to Audition transfers the full fidelity of your composition, including keyframes, effects, Essential Sound settings, markers, and metadata. So, you can refine, mix, and complete advanced work in the Multitrack Editor.
