Adjust audio track effects in the Timeline

Last updated on Apr 2, 2026

Learn how to fine-tune and automate audio track effects in Adobe Premiere using keyframes directly in the timeline for precise sound control.

You can adjust the fixed audio Track or Panner effects either by manipulating the track keyframes, rubber band, or by using the controls in the Audio Track Mixer.

Double-click the audio track in the Timeline panel to expand it.

Select the Show Keyframes   icon, then select Show Track Keyframes from the menu.

Select the menu at the top-left corner of the clip in the audio track. It displays Track: Volume by default.

Select the effect name and property from the menu:

  • Pre-fader effects appear at the upper right corner of the menu
  • Post-fader effects appear at the bottom right corner of the menu.

Numbers in effect names indicate their position in the track effects list and their rendering order.

Use the Pen tool to adjust the level uniformly or to add and edit keyframes.
