Version 1.10 overview
V1.10 brings some UX and quality-of-life improvements.
Modeler V1.10 full release notes
Note:
Known issue: Duplicating objects that are working as booleans will not have their boolean status copied to the new duplicates. This will be fixed in the next release.
Features:
- Added support for VDB import and export.
- Added a keyboard shortcut to set the camera focus point, Shift + F.
- Added Q as a shortcut to pick colors from the scene.
- Improvements to surfacing tools:
- Removed the ringing artifacts that could appear when using the Crease tool.
- Improved how the Crease tool behaves when moved off the surface of clay.
- Changed how the Strength slider works so that tool behavior is consistent independent of object scale for the Buildup, Crease, and Inflate tools.
- When working across multiple layers, surfacing tools now use a single surface average plane based on all objects under the brush, instead of generating a unique plane for each object.
- Subtools are now remembered in the Toolbar.
- If you switch to the Split tool, for example, the Erase tool button in the Toolbar changes to the Split tool.
- This only lasts for the current session; when you reopen Modeler, the default tools are displayed in the Toolbar.
- This change does not affect shortcuts.
- While using the Warp tool on desktop, hold Z to constrain warp operations to the normal of the clay under the brush.
- Modifying the parameters for a camera that you're currently looking through updates the viewport dynamically.
- Using Tab while the Flatten tool is equipped now switches between additive and subtractive modes. The average mode for the Flatten tool has been removed.
- Added various common text editing shortcuts when modifying text fields such as material names:
- Ctrl + A, Ctrl + Shift + arrow keys, Shift + Del, Shift + Backspace, Double Click to select.
Fixes:
- Fixed some translation errors.
- Fixed some tooltip strings.
- Fixed some issues with the camera UI.
- Fixed an issue where undoing and redoing Warp tool operations with Gizmo placement could break the Gizmo.
- Fixed an issue where warping multiple layers could cause flickering as results were calculated.
- Fixed an issue where the Make stamp button would be disabled for no reason.
- Changing your focus with the buttons on the left side of the Bottom bar now performs cleanup in the same way as changing focus by other methods. For example, if you scope out of an empty layer by focusing on another object, the empty is deleted.
- Copying screenshots while Include depth map is turned on no longer results in a magenta monstrosity.
- Fixed an issue where certain disabled buttons would still "work" if clicked, which could cause crashes.
- Tweaked some values for the Flatten tool to improve feel.
- Using Ctrl+D to duplicate objects now selects the duplicate instead of the original object.
- Fixed an issue where using the file browser for too long would prevent error pop-ups from appearing.
- Improved support for various file formats' up-axis conventions.
- You can now navigate to Google Drive folders with the VR file browser.
- Capture mode is now disabled for devices that don't support hardware ray tracing. These devices are outside the minimum specifications that Modeler requires.
- Fixed a crash that could be caused by the audio system.
