Substance 3D Modeler V1.12 Release notes
Version 1.12 overview
V1.12 brings the Assets Panel to the Retail version of Modeler. We've also implemented some performance improvements, drastically reducing the amount of VRAM required for complex scenes.
Note:
The save dialogue has an incorrect string and says “discard recovered work” instead of something more appropriate like “discard unsaved work.” This button only closes the current scene without saving, and only work done since the last save will be discarded.

Features:
- Following feedback from the Free Public Beta, we’re adding the Assets panel to the retail version of Modeler.
- Use shape matching to quickly search for detailed assets based on a simple blockout.
- Use search terms to narrow your search, and include or exclude categories of content to refine your results.
- Added an option when exporting to also export a log file that includes the selected export settings and additional export information.
- Improved the appearance of tooltips.
- When importing a mesh, you now have the option to subdivide the imported mesh, which can help decrease faceting when converting the mesh to clay.
- Added the option to select an increase resolution algorithm. Right-click the Increase resolution button in either the Actions menu or on the bottom bar to select between Smooth or Linear Up-res.
Fixes:
- Decreased GPU memory usage by up to 50%, especially for heavy scenes. This means general improvements in stability and performance.
- Upgraded to a newer OpenXR version that improves support for some controllers and headsets.
- Changing the visibility of linked primitive objects now works correctly.
- Fixed an issue where dragging objects in the Outliner while Limit to scope was turned on could cause unintended behavior.
- Fixed an issue where primitive scale handles could disappear.
- Fixed an export crash that could occur when static meshes were included.
- Fixed some tooltip and button text.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when working with networked drives.
- Fixed export issues for some file formats
- Removed the ability to look through a camera that has mirror, radial, or kaleidoscope repetition turned on.
- Improved layout on lower resolution displays.
- Fixed an issue with exporting VDB to the desktop folder.
