Paint tool

💻 Shortcut: -

🥽 Quick swap: None

The Paint tool allows you to add color to your creations. The Paint tool works closely with the Color picker, use the Color picker to select the color that will be applied with the Paint tool.

Note:

If applying paint has no effect, the current material may be overriding paint application. Check that the currently assigned material does not have "Show painted color as..." set to None.

It's possible to apply the current color to the entire layer with the paint bucket in the Color picker. You can also apply a color to a scene object without losing painted color detail through the use of materials.

Paint tool parameters

Brush Shape

Select the base shape for the brush

Different brush shapes have different parameters available. For example, you can adjust the width, height, and depth of a cube, or you can adjust the radius and thickness of a torus. A full list of brush shape parameters is available here.

Size

Modify the size of the brush

Increase or decrease the size of the brush. Very large brush sizes may cause a delay between adding clay and the clay appearing.

Hardness
Adjust the falloff of the Paint tool Adjust hardness to control the transition between colors at the edge of the Paint tool's brush.
Rate
Adjust the rate at which paint is applied
Rate allows you to change how much paint is applied to the clay throughout the stroke. A lower rate results in smoother colors and cleaner gradients, while a high rate results in hard edges and solid colors.
Pressure
Toggle pressure sensitivity

Pressure sensitivity allows you to dynamically adjust the scale of your stroke as you draw out your strokes.

  • 🥽 Vary the amount of pressure you apply with TT during your stroke.
  • 💻 Pressure sensitivity works best with a pressure sensitive pen and tablet.
Single
Toggle single mode Single mode will only place a single stamp of your brush when you pull the trigger instead of constantly applying clay along your stroke.
Lazy
Toggle Lazy stroke With Lazy stroke enabled, the stroke is dragged behind the cursor rather than appearing directly beneath it. This helps create smoother strokes and clean curves.
Steady
Toggle Steady stroke Steady stroke takes time to catch up with the cursor. Unlike Lazy stroke, Steady stroke will eventually reach the cursor. This helps create smoother strokes and clean curves.
Use texture
Enables textures and displays texture options

Textures can be used with the Paint tool to create simple decals and quickly create patterns. Enabling textures makes texture parameters available:

  • Texture selection: Select a texture or import textures to use in Modeler.
  • Tiling: Change how many times the texture repeats across the brush.
