To add titles you need to have a sequence open on the timeline in Premiere Pro. Move the playhead to the frame where you want to add the title. Select the Text tool to begin.
Starting with Premiere Pro version 25.0, the Essential Graphics panel is no longer included. You can now edit titles, captions, audio, video, and graphics more efficiently using the new Properties panel and browse Motion Graphics and Stock Audio using the Graphics Templates panel.

Select the Type tool.
Type your text and notice that a Title item appears in the timeline above the clip.
Right-click the title in the Program Monitor and select Edit Properties from the context menu to open the Essential Graphics panel where you can customize your title with fonts, colors, and styling options. Alternatively, you can double-click the track item on the timeline.
Use the Selection Tool to move or resize text and shape layers directly in the Program Monitor.
You can also
- Drag to extend or shorten the Title item on the Timeline (the default duration is 5 seconds).
- Select shape tools to add graphical elements.
- Copy and paste your title onto other parts of the Timeline and edit the text in each instance.
