Generate Image is now available for general users in Photoshop on desktop and can be found in the Contextual Task Bar, the Edit menu, or the Tools panel.
Try out the latest features and enhancements.
Generate dozens of ideas in a matter of minutes and jumpstart asset creation using the Generate Image feature, now out of Beta and available in Photoshop on desktop and Photoshop on the web.
Type a descriptive prompt, including desired colors, mood, lighting, and style, and apply additional creative controls to help produce more relevant results that match your vision. Generate Image is now powered by the new Adobe Firefly Image 3 Model, which unlocks impressive photographic results and is coming soon to other generative features in Photoshop.
Use generated assets to create custom composites without leaving Photoshop or combine multiple generated images on a canvas to brainstorm and refine concepts more efficiently. Additionally, a curated inspiration gallery of Firefly-powered user-generated images and their corresponding prompts also appears within the Generate Image window.
Use it to spark new ideas, remix the examples, or as a starting point for your own artwork so you never get stuck when creating.

The Generate Image feature window opens to display a text prompt box, inspiration gallery you can use as is or edit further, and other creative controls to help you generate an image from scratch.

Enter a descriptive prompt and explore new styles by selecting the Content type (Photo or Art) and Style Effects to apply to your image. Additionally, you can upload a Reference image to inform the style of your generation.

A new generative layer is created, and three variations appear in the Properties panel, which you can also view on canvas from the Contextual Task Bar.
Note:Select Generate again to generate more variations, if necessary.

Navigate to Content type in the Contextual Task Bar or the Properties panel to adjust the style and effects after generating, if necessary.
Upload a reference image to help Photoshop generate more relevant and customized variations. Pairing the image with descriptive text prompts gives you greater control over your generated results.
Use the Reference Image feature, available as part of the Generate Image workflow, to upload an image that helps influence the style of the image. This feature is most useful when you want to discover new aesthetics, and specific styles or details become hard to describe.

Select the Generate Image button in the Contextual Task Bar or the Tools panel and type a description in the text prompt box that appears.
Select Reference Image > Choose image to upload a reference image.

You can also choose from options in the Reference Image gallery in case you don’t have a reference image, and then select Generate to see variations that appear in the Properties panel.

Alternatively, if you did not select a Reference image in the previous steps, you can do so after the first generation as well.
Once the generated image appears on the canvas, select the Reference image icon in the Contextual Task Bar or from the Properties panel, upload your desired image, and generate again.
Note:A blue tick appears when the reference image is successfully uploaded and you can view its thumbnail in the Properties panel.

Generate Similar allows you to use a generated variation as a reference image and produce more variations with similar content and style. This enhances the accuracy and relevancy of your generated outputs and empowers you to generate similar variations until you land on one you like.
Use Generate Similar, available as part of the Generate Image workflow, to iterate and generate similar variations based on an existing one.
Follow these steps to generate variations using Generate Image:

Generate a desired image using the Generate Image feature.

Select your preferred variation and then the Generate Similar icon from the Contextual Task Bar or the three-dots icon in the Variations panel.

View the generated variations in the Properties panel. Choose the option that matches the selected variation's style or content. You can continue to generate similar variations until you achieve your desired result.
