As a designer, you can view and manage feedback received from stakeholders within InDesign. The comments you receive are linked to the relevant objects and pages in InDesign.

Review panel

As a designer, you can view comments shared by the reviewers within InDesign. The Review panel displays a spread-wise list of comments with the spread number against each comment.

To view comments in InDesign, select Window > Comments > Review

Review panel launch scenarios

  • The Review panel launches automatically whenever you copy a link or add a reviewer in Share for Review dialog.
  • If the Review panel is closed for a document that triggered it, it does not launch again when you copy a link or add a reviewer in the Share for Review dialog.
Note:

The Share for Review dialog remains open when the Review panel is launched using triggers like copying a link or adding a reviewer.

View and add comments in-app

If you're the document owner, you can use the Review panel in InDesign to view comments and reply to them.

  1. Go to Window > Comments > Review.

    If you've the document open when a stakeholder adds the first comment in the review link, the Review panel opens up automatically.

  2. After editing your document, select Share and then select Update content in the Share for review dialog to update the link with the edits made in the document.

    You can view and add comments only on the latest review link in the Review panel. However, you can view and add comments on all review links on the Creative Cloud website.

Manage comments

Select any comment to take you to the relevant area on the InDesign document, and reply, resolve, edit or delete it.

You can select:

  • A comment to view the objects associated with the comment.
  • An annotation on the canvas to highlight the relevant comment in the Review panel.

  1. Open the shared document in InDesign.

  2. Go to Window > Comments > Review to view the comments.

  3. In the Review panel you can perform any of the following actions:

    • Copy: Select the Copy button to copy the shared URL with other stakeholders.
    • Share   icon: Select to change the access permission or update the content. 
    • Reply: Select the Reply button with the comment in the Review panel.
    • Resolve: Select the Resolve   icon to remove it from the comment list. You can use the Filter   icon to view resolved comments. Select the Unresolve   icon to move it back to the comment list.
    • Mark as unread: Select the More Options   icon and select Mark as unread. You can only view this option for the comments added by other. This will add a blue dot to the comment.
    • Edit: Select the More Options    icon and select Edit. You can only view this option for the comments you've added.
    • Delete: Select the More Options   icon and select Delete.
    • Reference stakeholders: Use @ to reference stakeholders. They are notified through the Creative Cloud app and email.
    • Filter   icon: Select to filter by ReviewerTimeStatus, and Read or Unread comments.
    • Hide or view annotations: Show or hide annotations on the layout by toggling the   Hide annotations icon or   Show annotations icon.
Note:

When you delete a comment, all associated replies are deleted permanently.
