Add a certificate widget to your project and customize the widget.

Note:

Adobe Captivate introduces content blocks, such as text or an image block, which contain components like text, image, or button. Play this video to learn more about content blocks and components.

The certificate widget in the all-new Adobe Captivate enables you to provide learners with personalized and visually appealing certificates that validate their course completion or achievement. The certificate includes variables that dynamically populate learner-specific information, such as the learner's name, completion date, course title, and other relevant details.

Add a certificate widget

Select Add new widget > Certificate in the left toolbar to add a certificate widget.

Insert a certificate widget
Insert a certificate widget

Change the properties of the certificate widget

Adobe Captivate lets you apply a design option, change the widget's appearance, add or remove the components in the widget, and many more.

  1. In the Visual Properties panel, the Content Width slider and Horizontal Padding are linked in the Alignment and Spacing section. Moving the slider from the left side changes the left padding value, and moving the slider from right changes the right padding value. The same change is replicated in the Content Width slider when you change the left or right Horizontal Padding values.

Move the Content spacing slider to adjust the spacing between content and the slide.

  2. In the Design Options section, select any design option. A design option presents pre-configured layouts with cleaner design elements to apply to the widget.

For more information, view Design options in Adobe Captivate.

  3. In the Components section, you can change the following at the widget level:

    • Logo: Add or remove the certificate's logo.
    • Title: Add or remove the certificate's title.
    • Learner name: Add or remove the learner's name on the certificate. You can pick up the name of the learner from a variable. For more information, view Variables in Adobe Captivate. When you publish the project to an LMS, the learner's name is picked up by this variable. The LMS displays the updated value if the variable value is pre-configured while authoring.
    • Course name: Add or remove the course name on the certificate. You can pick up the name of the course from a variable. Captivate picks the course name from the LMS preferences, if not already configured in the Variables dialog. For more information, view Variables in Adobe Captivate.
    • Body: Add or remove the body text on the certificate.
    • Score: Add or remove the score of the learner on the certificate. You can pick up the score from a variable. For more information, view Variables in Adobe Captivate.
    • Date: Add or remove the date on the certificate. You can pick up the date from a variable. For more information, view Variables in Adobe Captivate.
    • Signature: Add or remove the signature on the certificate.
    • Caption: Add or remove the name of the signatory on the certificate.
    • Card: Add or remove to display the card around the certificate.
    Note:

You can align the components in the Components section. Hover over a component and select any option (Align left, Align center, or Align right).

  4. In the Appearance section, you can replace the background of the certificate. Click the folder icon and select an image from Assets or your computer. View Images in Adobe Captivate for more information on adding and editing images.

Select either Fill or Fit in the Display dropdown.

The Fit option resizes the image to fit within the bounds of its container, whereas the Fill option expands the image to fill the whole container.

The other options available in the dropdown are:

    • Stretch
    • Original Size
    • Tile

Also, add a border and shadow to the image.

  5. If you've enabled Card, then in the Appearance section, in the Card tab, you can add color, border, or shadows to the card.

Change the properties of the text

Apply a text preset, change font family, apply text alignment, change text indentation, and do much more.

  1. Select a text, for example, the title of the certificate.

  2. In the Visual Properties panel, change the text's font, style, or color. View Text in Adobe Captivate for more information.

Change the properties of the image

  1. Select the image, for example, the logo on the certificate.

  2. In the Visual Properties panel, replace the logo or change its look and feel. For more information on working with images, view Images in Adobe Captivate.

Download the certificate as PDF

Learners can download their certificate as a PDF after completing the course. This certificate provides learners with tangible proof of their course completion or achievement, which they can save or print for their records.

As an author, here's how to allow learners to download their certificate:

  1. In the Visual Properties panel, scroll down, and expand the Settings section.

  2. Enable the Certificate download toggle to allow learners to download their certificate after completing the course.
