Expand and change the aspect ratio of images

Learn how to change the aspect ratio or size of an image and expand its contents.

Try it in the app

Expand an image and fill it with Firefly-generated content in a few simple steps.

With Generative Expand, you can effortlessly expand the canvas area of an image using the Crop tool and a text prompt to generate and fill the expanded space, which seamlessly blends with the existing image. In addition to expanding your canvas, you can also generate and add missing details or add entirely new elements in the expanded space.

You can use Generative Expand to:

  • Enlarge product banner images and add complementing blank space to accommodate text.
  • Add backgrounds to portraits or headshots that complement the original image's style and composition.
  • Extend images with scenic landscapes to create panoramic views.
  • Expand product photos to showcase them in a more engaging setting.
