Learn how to add a Solid color fill layer to your canvas.

  1. On the Photoshop on the web homepage, under Start something new, select Upload an image and browse for a file on your device.

  2. Select Adjustment layers  from the Layers panel. Then, select Solid color in the Adjustments menu. 

    Various adjustment layer options like Brightness/contrast, Hue/saturation, Exposure, Vibrance, and more are shown on the right side of the screen within the Layers panel.
    Apply Adjustment layers like Exposure, Vibrance, Color balance, and more.

    Note:

    Solid color fill layer is added to the canvas, above the previously selected layer.

  3. Select the desired color for your fill layer using the color picker.

    The Color Picker panel is opened within the Layers panel. It can be used to select the desired color to be added to the fill layer.
    Choose the desired color from the color picker using the Eyedropper tool.

  4. You can further adjust the position of the Solid color fill layer by dragging it up or down in the Layers panel.

    A Solid color fill layer has been added to the Layers panel. It can be further adjusted according to requirements.
    Modify the Blend and Opacity to achieve different effects.

    Tip:

    If you'd like to change the fill layer color, double-click the color swatch in the Layers panel to open the color picker and select a new color.

  5. Select Download.
