Follow along with any project to learn how to adjust color, tone, and lighting.

  1. On the Photoshop on the web homepage, under Start something new, select Upload an image and browse for a file on your device.

  2. Select Adjust > Levels.

  3. In the Properties panel that opens, select any channels that you would like to modify – RGB, RedGreen, or Blue.

The Level adjustment panel is opened in the Properties panel, allowing the user to fix the image tone.
Set the image tone with the Levels adjustment.

  4. In the Properties panel, to manually adjust the shadows and highlights, drag the black (shadows) and white (highlights) input levels sliders to the edge of the first group of pixels at either end of the histogram.

    Tip:

If you plan to move the black point slider to the right at level 7, Photoshop online maps all the pixels at level 7 and lower to level 0. Similarly, if you move the white point slider to the left at level 247, it maps all pixels at level 247 and higher to level 255. The mapping affects the darkest and lightest pixels in each channel. The corresponding pixels in the other channels are adjusted proportionately to avoid altering the color balance.

  5. To adjust mid-tones, use the middle input levels slider. Moving the slider left lightens the image, while moving it right darkens it.

    Note:

You can also directly enter values in the input levels text boxes.

  6. Select Reset to reset Levels and remove applied adjustments.

  7. Select Download.
