Substance model graphs
This page is the landing page of documentation regarding authoring Substance model graphs to create parametric 3D models in Substance 3D Designer.
A Substance model is a parametric 3D model which is procedurally generated and can be dynamically modified in real time. Its shape and mesh are constructed on-the-fly using a set of instructions which are implemented by the user, by adding and connecting nodes in a Substance model graph.
The general workflow for authoring Substance models is as follows:

Start from an empty Scene or import existing 3D objects as a Scene

Use the built-in nodes available in the Substance models section of the Library panel to author a Substance model

Define an output node in the graph

Check the result in the 3D View panel

Repeat steps 3 to 5 until you are satisfied with the result

Export the final object as a parametric Substance 3D model (SBSM) or as a static model (FBX, OBJ)
