New feature in June 2024 (24.5)

Compare source and output in the AME Export Settings dialog box

You can now compare the Source and Output preview side by side in the Export Settings dialog box. This is particularly useful when checking for color or quality before export.

The Export Settings dialog box is open and in the Compare tab, there are two previews, one for source and the other for the output.

New features in May 2024 (24.4)

Hardware decoding support

Adobe Media Encoder now includes hardware acceleration for the following video formats:

  • AVC LongGOP in MXF
  • HEVC LongGOP in MXF
  • HEVC Intra in MXF

The following vendors of AVC Long GOP, HEVC-Intra, and HEVC-L benefit from this:

  • Sony (XAVC-L, XAVC H-I, XAVC H-L)
  • Canon (XF-AVC L, XF-HEVC L)
  • Panasonic (AVC LongG)

Automatic Detection and Interpretation of iPhone ProRes log video

Adobe Media Encoder now supports automatic detection and interpretation of iPhone ProRes log video.

Adobe Media Encoder automatically detects and sets the color space of iPhone ProRes Log video in the Interpret Footage dialog box.

In the Color section of the Preferences panel, enable Auto Detect Log Video Color Space. Then, drop an iPhone ProRes log original camera media clip into a Rec 709 timeline. Media Encoder will automatically detect the color and the Media Color Space is set to Apple Log/ Rec 2020 and the clip will have an automatic tone map applied.

Additional updates

  • You can now override the default media color space for all formats in Adobe Media Encoder (except for RAW formats).
  • Color Management is now supported for import of MXF files utilizing HEVC Intra and Long GOP codecs.
