Lock and unlock elements in designs

Learn how to maintain a consistent style by locking elements in a design.
Locking elements enables teams to make on-brand content faster. It simplifies the editing experience for others by locking elements that shouldn’t be changed or allowing certain modifications with additional locking options.
Lock and unlock text

In the left panel, select the Lock icon to lock and the Unlock icon to unlock.

You can optionally select the checkbox next to Text can be replaced in the Lock setting panel. When you select the checkbox, the text can be edited while ensuring the position remains intact and without changing its size, font, color, or animations.
Lock and unlock images

Open a design in the Adobe Express editor, and select the image you want to lock or unlock.

In the left panel, select the Lock icon to lock and the Unlock icon to unlock.

You can optionally select the checkbox next to Image can be replaced in the Lock setting panel. When you select the checkbox, the image can be replaced or reframed without changing its styling attributes, such as animations, effects, and adjustments.
Note:
- This feature is available on the Premium, Team, and Enterprise plans.
- Locked text: Lock settings cannot be used on text that uses non-default layout options (for example, dynamic and circular). These text objects can only be fully locked and unlocked.
- Locked images: Remove Background is not retained when images are replaced. If needed, you must remove the background before replacing images.
