Creative Cloud desktop app won't open | Progress wheel keeps spinning

Learn what to do if the Creative Cloud desktop app won't open or shows a spinning progress wheel.

If your Creative Cloud desktop app does not open and displays any of the following messages, you can follow the instructions in the message.

  • Your apps are taking longer than usual. Relaunch Creative Cloud or restart your computer and try again.
  • Loading applications seems to be taking longer than usual.
  • Creative Cloud seems to be taking longer than usual to initialize.

If the Creative Cloud desktop app still won't open, try solution 1. If it doesn't resolve the issue, try the subsequent solutions.

Note:

The following solutions apply only to Creative Cloud desktop app versions 5.0 and later. See instructions for the earlier versions of the Creative Cloud desktop app. 

Solution 1: Restart your computer and open the Creative Cloud desktop app

  1. Quit the Creative Cloud desktop app in one of the following ways, depending on your operating system:

    macOS: Select Creative Cloud > Quit Creative Cloud. Or, press Cmd+Q.

    Windows: Select the hamburger menu   in the upper-left. Then go to the File menu and select Quit Creative Cloud. Or, press Ctrl+W.

  2. Close all open applications.

  3. Restart your computer and open the Creative Cloud desktop app again.

Solution 2: Reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop app

  1. Uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop app using the Creative Cloud desktop app uninstaller.

  2. Sign in to the Creative Cloud website to begin downloading the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  3. Double-click the downloaded file to begin installation:

    macOS: Creative_Cloud_Installer.dmg

    Windows: Creative_Cloud_Set-Up.exe

  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete your installation. 

Solution 3: Upgrade your operating system and reinstall the app

  1. If you are on an older operating system, upgrade it to the latest one. The latest version of the Creative Cloud desktop app is supported only on the following operating systems:

    • Microsoft® Windows 10 (64 bit only)
    • macOS v10.12 and later
  2. Sign in to the Creative Cloud website to begin downloading the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  3. Double-click the downloaded file to begin installation:

    macOS: Creative_Cloud_Installer.dmg

    Windows: Creative_Cloud_Set-Up.exe

  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete your installation.
