Creative Cloud Support Policy

Understand Adobe's Creative Cloud support policy and make informed choices before installing Creative Cloud apps and services.

The level of support that Adobe provides for Creative Cloud apps, depends on your Creative Cloud plan. The Creative Cloud support policy outlines the scope of support for the app versions in your Creative Cloud plan and the applicable elements of support for each version.

Users in various roles can review the policy to ascertain the supported app versions and the timeframe of support for these Creative Cloud plans.


While Adobe provides support for the latest version of apps and services, support for older versions is limited in scope. Creative Cloud for enterprise plans also includes support for a designated Long Term Supported (LTS) version. 

App versions

Creative Cloud apps use a three-part numbering system to express released versions of apps:
N.m.p 

Where N = Major version; m = Minor version; p = Patched version.

For example app version 23.2.1 indicates a release status of major version 23, with minor version 2, along with security patch version 1.

Major versions are expressed as follows:

  • Latest version (N): The latest major version of the app.
  • Previous version (N-1): One major version behind the latest version.
  • Long Term Supported Version (LTS): This version is available for Creative Cloud for enterprise plans only. It qualifies for security updates for an added period of up to one year. For more information, see Long Term Supported versions.
  • Older version (N-2 or earlier): Two or more major versions behind the latest version.

For example, if the latest available version of an app is 23.2.1, then:

  • Latest major version (N) is 23.
  • Previous version (N-1) of this app is 22.
  • LTS may be designated as version 22.4.
  • Older versions (N-2, N-3, or earlier) are versions 21, 20, and earlier releases.

Elements of support

Adobe provides the following types of support services for Creative Cloud apps:

Feature updates

Feature updates include new features and changes to existing features.

When Adobe releases a feature update, the digit used to express the minor version of the app is incremented by one digit: N.m+1.

Bug fixes

A bug fix is a correction to a bug or glitch in the product.

When Adobe releases a bug fix update, the digit used to express the patch version of the app is incremented by one digit: N.m.p+1.

Security updates

Security updates address a vulnerability that has a demonstrated security impact on the latest app version or the LTS version. When Adobe releases a security update, the digit used to express the patch version of the app is incremented by one digit. Depending upon your Creative Cloud plan, the security update is expressed as N.m.p+1 or LTS.p+1.

OS compatibility

Adobe provides compatibility support for the latest version of its apps with these operating systems:

  • Windows 10 and later: Latest version and two immediately preceding updates.
  • macOS: Latest version and two immediately preceding updates.
  • iOS: Latest and immediately preceding version.
  • Android: Latest and two immediately preceding versions.

Contact Adobe Customer Care for help with products or to report an issue.

Adobe will not make available Creative Cloud versions that are N-3 or older. Neither will Adobe provide support (including feature updates, bug fixes, security updates, OS compatibility, browser support, or assisted support) for such versions. However, Adobe Customer Care may, at its discretion, provide limited support for N-3 or older versions.

Caution:

Adobe has the right to modify and discontinue its apps and the support for its apps, at any time, at Adobe's sole discretion.

Adobe Creative Cloud for individuals plans support the latest version and the immediately preceding version of the apps.

Creative Cloud for enterprise

Creative Cloud for enterprise plans support the latest version and the immediately preceding version of the apps. Older versions of the apps may also be available for download. Adobe also supports a designated Long Term Supported (LTS) version for Creative Cloud for enterprise customers.

Note:

By default, when creating a package in Admin Console, only versions that receive security or feature updates (latest and LTS versions) are visible for enterprise admins. To include other versions in packages, enterprise admins must select Available application versions in package preferences (Admin Console > Packages > Preferences). Caution:

App versions more than three versions behind the latest version are not supported and are not available for download. If you intend to use older versions for an extended period, retain the packages or store the installers in a safe location. If you currently have access to such older app versions, you may retain the packages or store the installers for future (unsupported) use.

Long Term Supported version (LTS)

A long-term supported (LTS) version is an Adobe-designated version for some desktop apps that qualifies for security updates for an added period of one year. Adobe declares LTS versions once a year, typically around November. An LTS version continues to receive security patches for up to a year until it is replaced by the next LTS version, which is declared next year.

N+1 represents the next version for a future release.

By deploying LTS versions, Creative Cloud for enterprise customers can continue to receive security patches for an extended period. They can use this added time to perform testing and due diligence before upgrading to the latest versions.

Note:
  • LTS versions of Photoshop are also available for Creative Cloud for teams and Creative Cloud for individuals customers.
  • An LTS version is not available for Adobe's cloud-first apps, such as Lightroom, Fresco, Adobe XD, or Premiere Rush. These apps and services are updated frequently to add more features and to maintain compatibility with Creative Cloud web services.
  • LTS versions aren't available for End of Development and End of Life applications. To know which apps have reached EOD or EOL, see Discontinued products.
  • An LTS version is not available for 3D apps, such as Dimension and Substance.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, the Creative Cloud Support policy impacts customers globally.

If you do not upgrade to supported versions, your apps may not receive the latest features, bug fixes, and security updates. Assisted support may also be limited.

Continuing to deploy older, unsupported versions of Creative Cloud will exclude customers from third-party claim coverage according to their contract with Adobe.

Support will be provided only if, and in accordance with the terms of, a customer’s paid Support Services contract with Adobe. All other assisted support will only be provided to assist with uninstalling unsupported versions or upgrading to supported versions.

The supported versions are the most recent and up-to-date versions of Adobe software, which include the latest features, capabilities, and security updates. For Creative Cloud for enterprise customers, supported versions include N (current version) and LTS (Long Term Supported) versions. 

Unsupported versions are older versions that are not in alignment with this policy. Unsupported versions do not include the latest features, capabilities, and security updates.

  • If your users have self-service access to Creative Cloud through the Creative Cloud desktop app, you should encourage them to upgrade their software.

  • If you package and deploy products to your users, go to the Adobe Admin Console and create packages from the versions available. You can also use Remote Update Manager to manage updates of the long-term supported version. The long-term supported version is also supported through the Adobe Update Server Setup Tool (AUSST).

Uninstall unsupported versions and upgrade to a supported Creative Cloud version. Installed apps are not automatically removed.

The guidance mentioned in the policy applies to you. Adobe recommends that you consider transitioning to Named User Licensing and update to a supported version.

Customers who purchased a perpetual license for a currently unsupported product can continue using the perpetual products for as long as such usage is technically feasible.
