Adobe Acrobat Support Policy

Read the support policy for Adobe Acrobat to make informed choices when installing Acrobat and related services.

The level of support available for Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Acrobat Reader depends on your subscription plan and the version of Acrobat that you deploy. The Acrobat support policy outlines the scope of support for Acrobat or Acrobat Reader versions in your subscription and the applicable support elements for each version.

Review the Acrobat support policy to ascertain the supported versions and the support timeframe for the following Acrobat products.

Acrobat versions

Major versions of Acrobat are expressed as follows:

  • Latest version (N): The latest major version of the app.
  • Previous version (N-1): One major version behind the latest version.
  • Older version (N-2 or earlier): Two or more major versions behind the latest version.

Minor releases of Acrobat include updates for specific major versions. Minor releases may include fixes for security and quality issues.

Elements of support

Assisted Support: Contact Adobe Customer Care for product assistance or to report an issue. Adobe doesn't provide support (including bug fixes, security updates, OS compatibility, browser support, or assisted support) for older versions.

Security updates: Security updates address a vulnerability that has a demonstrated security impact on the latest Acrobat version.

Bug fixes: A bug fix is a correction to an Adobe-identified bug or glitch in the product.

Download availability: The latest major version and two immediately preceding versions are available for download.

OS support: Adobe provides compatibility support for the latest version of its apps with these operating systems:

  • Windows® 10: Latest version and two immediately preceding updates.
  • macOS: Latest version and two immediately preceding updates.
  • iOS: Latest and immediately preceding version.
  • Android™: Latest and two immediately preceding versions.

Support policy for Acrobat Classic

Adobe provides the following support for Acrobat Classic or Acrobat Reader Classic for Individual and SMB customers on desktop devices only.

  • Assisted support: Adobe provides assisted support for five years from the day of release of the specific Acrobat Classic or Acrobat Reader Classic version.
  • Security updates: Adobe provides patches for security vulnerabilities for five years from the day of release of the particular Acrobat Classic or Acrobat Reader Classic version.
  • Bug fixes: Adobe provides fixes for Adobe-identified bugs for five years from the day of release of the specific Acrobat Classic or Acrobat Reader Classic version. 
  • Download availability: All minor releases of a particular Acrobat Classic or Acrobat Reader Classic version are downloadable for five years from the release date.
  • OS support:
    • Acrobat Classic or Acrobat Reader Classic versions within five years from the day of release are compatible with three recent versions of macOS and Windows® if the OS providers support the OS versions.
    • Acrobat Classic or Acrobat Reader Classic versions continue to support the 32-bit version of Windows® OS.

Support policy for Acrobat for individuals and SMB

Adobe provides the following types of support services Acrobat for individuals and Acrobat for SMB products.  

Desktop: 

  • Assisted support: Adobe provides assisted support for the latest version (N) and two immediately preceding versions (N-1, and N-2) of Acrobat.
  • Security updates: Only the current product version (N) of Acrobat apps will receive security patches.
  • Bug fixes: Only the current product version (N) of Acrobat apps will receive bug fixes.
  • Download availability: All minor releases of the current major version are available for download.
  • OS support:
    • The latest Acrobat version (N) should run on at least three most recent versions of macOS and Windows® if the OS providers support the OS versions. Acrobat also supports Windows® 8, Windows® 8.1, and Windows® 7 operating systems.
    • Document Cloud for desktop continues to support Windows® 32-bit version. 

Mobile apps:

  • Assisted support: Adobe provides assisted support for the latest version.
  • Security updates: Only the current product version (N) of Acrobat apps will receive security patches. 
  • Bug fixes: Only the current product version (N) of Acrobat apps will receive bug fixes.
  • Download availability: The latest major version is available for download.
  • OS support:
    • The latest Acrobat versions (N) should run on at least two most recent iOS versions and three most recent Android™ OS versions.

Web apps and services:

  • Acrobat supports the latest version of the following browsers for desktop and mobile:
    • Microsoft® Edge
    • Google Chrome
    • Apple Safari
    • Mozilla Firefox

Support policy for Acrobat enterprise subscription

Adobe's support policy for Acrobat enterprise customers (on multi-year ETLA and eVIP (VIP Enterprise) contracts) is determined by the version of Acrobat the customers deploy. Enterprises that deploy a particular version of Acrobat (subscription) are governed by the support policy for Acrobat for individuals and Acrobat for SMB products. Enterprises that deploy Acrobat Classic are governed by the support policy for Acrobat Classic.
