Learn how to share photos or albums with the people you want and invite them to contribute to the shared albums.

You can select photos that aren't a part of any album, share them through an invite, and request others to contribute to the album. This way, you can easily access all your desired photos in one place on Lightroom on the web. You can also share and invite others to view or contribute to an album.

  1. Select an existing album from the Albums panel > Select photo.

    Note:

    To select multiple photos, select the checkbox of the photos you want to share.

  2. Select the Share to share the photos you've selected. The Share & invite panel will appear, where you can apply specific settings.

    Apply the settings for the Share and Invite to send images for collaboration.

  3. In the Share & Invite panel, select the Customize > Show me button to view and edit the following settings:

    • Theme: Select the Photo Grid, Column, or One-Up icons for the desired arrangement of photos in your share.
    • Appearance: Select Dark or Light to set the color theme of the arrangement of photos.
    • Show title: Displays the name of the album. By default, the existing album name is displayed. If you select a set of photos in the grid, the date and time you generated the link are displayed as Title.
    • Show author: Displays the name of the person who generated the link. 
    • Use cover as: Displays the photo as a Background or a Hero image.
    • Reorder by: Reorders the photos by Capture DateImport DateModified DateFile NameStar RatingQuality, or Reverse Order.
    Customize panel is highlighted with different options such as Theme, Appearance, options Use cover as and Reorder by is displayed.
    Set the settings of the Customize options of the album.

  4. Select the </> button to copy the embed code that can be used on another website or page.

  5. Select the Settings button to edit the following settings by toggling the buttons:

    • Under Access:
      • Private: only invited people can access
      • Public: anyone with the link can view
    • Under Requests:
      • Allow access requests: This setting is default to let people request access to view your shared photos.
    • Under Photos:
      • Show metadata: Select this setting to allow others to view the metadata of the shared set of photos. 
      • Show location info: Select this setting to allow others to view the location info of the shared set of photos. 
      • Allow comments and likes: This setting is selected by default to allow your viewers to leave comments and likes on your shared photos. 
      • Allow downloads and export: Select this setting to allow others to download the shared set of photos.
  6. The Link Access field is set to Anyone can view, by default. This creates a public link where anyone with the link can view your album.

    Alternatively, change the Link Access setting to Invite only to create a private link that only members whom you invite can view or contribute to your album. 

    Tip:

    Select the Copy link button to share the link to your album with the invitee.

  7. To invite others to view or contribute to your album, enter their email addresses in the Share & invite panel and select Invite. The invitees will then receive an email to access your album. In the Share & invite dialog box, you can view the email addresses you sent the invite. Next to each email address, select the drop-down list to set the album access setting of that person:

    • Can view: The invitee can view the shared album, add comments in photos, and mark them as Favorite.
    • Can contribute: The invitee can add photos to the shared album, add comments on photos, and like them.
    • Can edit: The invitee can add photos to the shared album and make photo edits. Multiple people can edit a photo, and you can view the various edits in the Auto tab of the Versions panel. The invitees will also be able to export the photos in JPG format.

  8. Select Done.
