The Luminance Range tool lets you apply adjustments based on brightness, allowing precise control over areas with similar brightness, such as shadows, midtones, or highlights. This precision enhances details, balances exposure, and creates more dynamic photos.

  1. On the Lightroom on the web homepage, select All Photos.

  2. Select an image to open it in detail view, and then select Masking  > Luminance Range.

  3. Within the Masks panel, select Create new mask

  4. Using the Luminance Range tool, select a point or area in the photo to highlight all areas with the same range of brightness.

  5. Adjust the Luminance slider to define the endpoints of the selected range.

  6. Select and drag an area of the photo you want to adjust.

    Note:

It is recommended to select a small area to narrow down on a specific luminance range.

  7. Control the overall selected area of the Luminance Range mask using the Amount slider.
