Create richer and more immersive AR experiences by adding animated assets to your project.
Animated assets
Animations, as with any other interactive content, can be triggered through Aero’s behavior system.
How to play animations
-
-
Set a trigger from the Behaviors panel.
-
Select Play animation from the actions list.
Best practices
Play animation action
Once you set a Play animation action, select the object the animation will be applied to, the animation clip, and other options like Play Count, Delay, and more.
-
Change the Subject if you want another object than the current selection to be the one containing the animation to play.
-
Select the set that contains the animation clip that you want to play. If the Subject object contains embedded animations, the Animation set lists an entry with the asset name.
If the Subject object has no animation embedded, or if you want to add another animation sets to choose from, select the icon to import an animation file (FBX or GLB) from either your Creative Cloud files, or from your local Files storage.
Optionally, if an animation set is no longer in use, you can use the icon to remove it permanently from your project.
-
Select the animation clip to be played from the list of Clips found in the Animation set that is currently selected.
-
The Trim control shows the animation length.
Use the Start and End handles to adjust the range of animation you want to play back.
Adjust the Speed factor to define how fast or slow the animation clip should play.
-
Activate Transition if you want to automatically blend-in the animation clip from the current pose of the object. The option allows you to chain together multiple Play animation actions on the same object while ensuring a smooth visual transition between them.
If the animation clip contains forward motion but you want the object to remain in place, activate Treadmill option.
If the animation clip contains forward motion but you want the asset to jump back to the start position at each loop iteration, activate Return to start position option.
Set Play Count if you want the animation clip to play more than once.
-
Set the number of seconds you want to Delay the action from starting to play.
Toggle Infinite if you want the animation clip to loop endlessly.
Toggle Back and forth if you want the animation clip to play forward and backwards at each loop iteration.
Animated Images
You can now create richer and more immersive AR experiences by adding animated images to your project.
Animated images, like any other interactive content, can be triggered through Aero’s behavior system.
How to play animated images
-
Import an animated GIF image or a sequence of PNG images bundled in a ZIP archive.
-
Select the object to act as a trigger and tap the Behaviors tool from the Toolbar.
-
Set a trigger from the Behaviors panel.
-
Select Play images from the actions list.
Best practices
Keep the following recommendations in mind when adding animated images to your project to prevent overloading your device capabilities:
File format should be a GIF, or, PNGs bundled in a ZIP archive (see Supported File Formats).
Keep image files under 60Mb on disk, less than 1024x1024 pixels in resolution, and less than 100 frames of animation.
The amount of animated images concurrently playing in an experience varies by device model, asset size and resolution, and scene complexity
Play image action
-
Change the Subject if you want the image sequence to play on an object other than the current selection.
If Subject is set to an asset that is not an animated GIF or a sequence of PNG files, the rest of action panel will be grayed out and an Info icon will be displayed next to the Subject field indicating that the asset is incompatible.
-
The Trim control shows the frame range found in the image sequence.
Use the Start and End handles to adjust the range of frames you want to play back.
-
Adjust the Speed factor to define how fast or slow the animated image sequence should play back.
-
Set the Play Count if you want the animated image sequence to play more than once.
-
Set the number of seconds you want to Delay the action from starting to play.
-
Toggle Infinite if you want the image sequence to endlessly loop.
Toggle Back and forth to play the image sequence forward and backwards at each loop iteration.
