Illustrator on desktop technical requirements

Your computer must meet the minimum technical specifications outlined below to run and use Illustrator.

Technical requirements for version 30.0 and later

Monitor resolution	1024 x 768 display (1920 x 1080 recommended) To use Touch workspace in Illustrator, you must have a touch-screen-enabled tablet/monitor running Windows 10 (Microsoft Surface Pro 3 recommended) Scalable UI Limitations: Minimum monitor resolution required is 1920 x 1080.
GPU	To enhance Illustrator performance with the GPU Performance feature, your Windows must: Have a minimum of 1 GB of VRAM (4 GB recommended). Support DirectX 12 or OpenGL version 4.0 or greater. For optimum pan and zoom performance, a minimum of 1.5 GB of VRAM is required. Limitations in Outline Mode: Minimum monitor resolution required is 2000 pixels in any dimension. Ensure that you install and update your GPU device drivers.
Internet connection	Internet connection and registration are necessary for required software activation, validation of subscriptions, and access to online services.¹

Illustrator isn't supported on case-sensitive file systems, removable storage devices, and network drives.²

"Thin Clients" are also server-based environments. Illustrator has a few technical support boundaries for virtualized or server-based environments.
