Smudge tool

Learn how to use pixel brushes to blend and smudge colors.

Use the Smudge tool to create natural blends in your artwork. All built-in brushes, and Photoshop brushes from CC libraries can be used as a Smudge brush.

Use Smudge tool to create Smudge brushes

Follow these steps to create a smudge effect in your artwork:

  1. Open a new artwork and double-tap the pixel brushes  icon.
  2. Select a pixel brush and draw color patterns or lines.
  3. Double-tap the Smudge tool icon  in the toolbar and select a brush in the Smudge brushes panel. You can adjust brush size, the strength of Smudge brush, smoothing, and other settings, such as the smudge spacing and shape dynamics.
  4. Tap the Smudge tool, select your Smudge brush and smudge existing pixels on the canvas.

Adjust the strength of your Smudge brush from tool options at the bottom of the Toolbar.

Note:

Fresco does not support Smudge brushes on Surface Pro X and Surface Pro 9 devices. For more information, see Supported features on iPad, iPhone, and Windows.
