Retrain your custom models

Last updated on May 13, 2026

Learn how to retrain your Adobe Firefly Custom Models to use newer versions.

Adobe releases new versions of its Firefly Image Model to improve image generation quality and accuracy. Retraining them creates a new version of an existing custom model, enabling you to improve image generation and quality with updated data and settings.

Go to Firefly and open the Inventory tab.

Locate the custom model you want to retrain and select it to open. If the Model Type is set to Style, you’ll be prompted to choose a type before continuing:

  • Iconography: Select this for icons or simple, symbolic graphics.
  • Style: Select this for all other styles, such as illustrated or photographic styles.

Defining the model type helps optimize the model for better output quality.

The Retrain page displays the option to retrain a custom model with Style and Iconography model type options.
Select the appropriate Model Type to retrain and duplicate your model.

Select Duplicate.

Review your training data and settings to make edits as needed.

Select Train. A new version of your model will be created and added to your Inventory, while the original model will remain unchanged. Delete the older model if it’s no longer needed.
